Debbie’s Best of 2015

The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place-Julie Berry
About:  Okiku has wandered the world for centuries, freeing the innocent ghosts of the murdered-dead and taking the lives of killers with the vengeance they are due, but when she meets Tark she knows the moody teen with the series of intricate tattoos is not a monster and needs to be freed from the demonic malevolence that clings to him.
Why I Recommend It:  Repressed, unwanted Victorian girls busting out and taking over. My favorite read of 2015.

Carry On: The Rise and Fall of Simon Snow-Rainbow Rowell
About: Even though magician Simon Snow is the “Chosen One” nothing seems to go his way. His girlfriend broke up with him, his roommate and nemesis thinks he’s a terrible Chosen One, and his mentor wants him to leave Watford School of Magicks and hide in the mountains for his own protection.
Why I Recommend It:  Vampires, ghosts, love and a bit of kissing. Really funny stuff.

Knightley and Son-Rohan Gavin
About:  Darkus Knightley’s father has been in a coma for 4 years. Darkus, now 13, has discovered and read all his father’s secret files. When his father suddenly wakes up Darkus begins to believe perhaps his father’s crazy conspiracy theories about an organization out to control the world aren’t so crazy after all. Unfortunately, Mr. Knightley’s symptoms are recurring and he falls back into a coma; leaving Darkus to unravel the mystery all alone.
Why I Recommend It:  A great mystery with interesting characters I really care about. I can’t wait to get to Knightley and Son 2.
