What’s Happening This Week @ SPL

Welcome to Halloweek, my friends!

Now I know you are all going to be dressing up and partying this week, but there is also plenty to do at the Smith Public Library. You can even come in costume! We’ll be sporting our’s all day on Wednesday, so feel free to wear your’s as well!

This week is Teen Book Club, and we will be discussing The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron:

Nadia lives in the city of Canaan, where life is safe and structured, hemmed in by white stone walls and no memory of what came before. But every twelve years the city descends into the bloody chaos of the Forgetting, a day of no remorse, when each person’s memories – of parents, children, love, life, and self – are lost. Unless they have been written.

In Canaan, your book is your truth and your identity, and Nadia knows exactly who hasn’t written the truth. Because Nadia is the only person in Canaan who has never forgotten.

But when Nadia begins to use her memories to solve the mysteries of Canaan, she discovers truths about herself and Gray, the handsome glassblower, that will change her world forever. As the anarchy of the Forgetting approaches, Nadia and Gray must stop an unseen enemy that threatens both their city and their own existence – before the people can forget the truth. And before Gray can forget her.

Sounds crazy, right? Well come hang out with us on Thursday night, November 1st at 6pm, as we rant and rave about this October pick. There will be snacks and good times to be had by all.

In other big news, we have gotten in all of our copies of Sarah J. Maas’s Kingdom of Ash, the conclusion to the AMAZING Throne of Glass series.

As of right now, all of them are checked out except two. So come and grab your copy soon, or place a hold on it here! Who is your favorite Throne of Glass character? Tell us in the comments!
